Dear Guild Members and Friends of Puppetry,
What a great day we had at our annual day of puppetry held Saturday, April 20, at the SCERA Center in Orem (see photos from Nat’s post). Thanks to everyone who attended this fun event. We had a great meet-n-greet with old friends and new. Fun classes were presented and our first ever all-guild performance for the Puppet Follies was really fun and good enough we might try it again. (That means we have a year to complete our near-completed puppets or create another.)
A special “Thanks” to Lorie Hawley for going the extra mile (actually about 270 miles). Her wanna-be class was very popular (as usual) and she helped workshop attendees create some amazing puppets from favorite stuffed critters. Her ever-present enthusiasm and sense of fun is really contagious. For those who were not able to attend, Lorie has extended a Lorie Hawley “Hi.”
Also, a big “Thanks” to Nat Reed for arranging for the facility and a great big “THANKS” to Joe Flores for spearheading the event. Joe expressed a strong desire to be the Guild President and was voted in as president for the coming year. Let’s keep the enthusiasm going and enjoy this next year of puppet events.
If you haven’t had quite enough puppet stuff yet, Joe has already arranged with Dalen Blankenship (presenter at the workshop) for an extended class for guild members on sculpting foam puppets. He will present his workshop at our May meeting on Saturday, May 18, from 1 pm to 3 pm at the SCERA Center, 745 South State, Orem. As usual, we will meet at 11 am for the puppet show $3 (Mark Pulham), take a quick lunch break, and be back to start at 1 pm.
Interested in this guild member workshop, but not a member yet? Not too late. Just complete the attached membership form and send it along with $10/single or $15/Family or Group. Puppet Membership Form
