And the Puppet Fun just keeps coming!

Dear Guild Members and Friends of Puppetry,

Here are the puppet events scheduled in May.

If you are in the SLC area, please join “Puppets in the City” for their next workshop, “Fun Finger Puppets.” It will be held on Saturday, May 12, at The Art Factory, 193 W 2100 S, Salt Lake City. You can register at the door or online at www.puppetsinthecity.org. It goes from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. It is designed for ages *5+ (*younger with parent supervision). The Cost is $18 for two puppets and a mini-stage. Bring your story to life with two characters and the world they live in! You will create two finger puppets and a cardboard mini-stage for your performance. All materials are provided.

The other puppet event on Saturday, May 12, will be at the Ogden Union Station Heritage Festival held at Union Station, 2501 Wall Ave, Ogden, There will be a “Spoon Puppet” making booth with interspersed puppet shows by Alan Griffin and Friends and Little Red Riding Hood by Paradise Puppetworks, from 1 pm to 3 pm. If you are in the Ogden area please join us there.

Then on Saturday, May 19, “Puppets in the City” are offering two puppet shows at The Art Factory, 193 W 2100 S, Salt Lake City. These are fun shows for all ages. Princesses and Pirates They are performed back-to-back with a ten minute intermission in between. There are two performance times: 10:00am and 11:15am. Both puppet shows will be shown both times. Doors open at 9:45 am for show A, and 11:00 am for show B. Tickets are $5 for adults, and $2.50 for children under 12. You can buy tickets *online, www.puppetsinthecity.org or at the door. (*Please be ready to show your online ticket before being seated.)

Also, on Saturday, May 19, Joe Flores is offering the first of a two-part workshop on “Making Foam Puppets.” The class will be held at the SCERA Center, 745 South State Street, Orem, starting at 12:15 pm. This first class will be a demonstration followed by questions & answers and a supply list. Then next month come prepared to make a foam puppet head. If you are interested in making a Muppet type puppet, this is where you will want to be.
